The most groundbreaking sports event in the area is back for the fifth consecutive year! The 5th Aligari Run 2023 is scheduled to take place on November 26, 2023, at the Megala Livadia of Paiko and promises an exhilarating experience for athletes of all ages.
The event includes four different routes, as well as a race for kids, catering to athletes of every level:
- 20 km Cross Country Run – This route takes you through Paiko's forest and part of the village, offering ideal conditions for fast running.
- 10 km Mountain Run – An ideal route for beginner mountain runners, without significant elevation challenges.
- 5 km Village Run – A route suitable for all ages, passing through the picturesque village.
- 500 m Junior Run – For children aged 5-9, a beautiful 500 m route awaits the little runners.
The Aligari Run represents the concept of running, movement, and energy. It is a tradition for the Vlach community residing in the Megala Livadia, an area of exceptional beauty and natural environment.
Megala Livadia of Paiko are situated at an altitude of 1,200 meters and are one of the highest mountain villages in Macedonia. The village is also known as Megalo Livadi and is only 28 kilometers away from Goumenissa and 24 kilometers from Griva.
To reach Megala Livadia, you can use the national roads E75 and E86 heading towards Goumenissa and Griva.
