"Traveling" with the Decauville train to the secrets of the forest of Vermio

How is a forest full of whispers, secrets of myth and natural beauties connected to a timber factory, a stone bridge, an aerial train, a mountain chapel and the cool waters of a river? Starting from the old timber workshop at the location "Gournosovo", which is 10 km away. from the town of Naoussa and located at an altitude of 1,050 m, we will walk a distance of about 3 km. on the path, which 100 years ago was paved with rails, on which was "engaged" a train (decoville) that transported solid tree trunks from Vermio sites to the water-powered-steam-powered sawmill, which turned the trunks into sawn timber. We will walk through a gallery, we will pass over stone bridges that tamed the rivers of Vermio and we will see the stone retaining walls that protected the railway line. Arriving in the area "vathres" and facing the waterfall of the largest river of Vermio, which springs from the springs "karampournari", we will meet the logistics area of the guerrillas of the 16th regiment of ELAS and on the other side of the river, the single-aisled church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.

Sports clothing and non-slip shoes, a hat, sun protection and mosquito repellents, water for moisturizing young and old and individual foods are recommended.
