Giannitsa of the Macedonian Struggle and the Balkan Wars

The Military Museum of Giannitsa was created in 2011, on the main pedestrian street of the city, at 112-126 Eleftheriou Venizelou Street. It focuses on the military conflicts in the region at the beginning of the 19th century, i.e. the Macedonian Struggle of the period 1904-1908, the Battle of the Swamp, and the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913. Through heirlooms, photographs and texts, visitors are transported to the years of the battles that led to the liberation of the city and Macedonia.

Showcases with models how the uniforms of the fighters, while references are made to the armies that participated in the conflicts (Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey). At the same time, many items from a collection of weapons, medals, equipment, medals, cards, and scraps, ensure that visitors are fully informed about the conditions and events of an era that largely determined the territorial boundaries in the Balkans. Admission to the Museum is free.
