Historical Museum of Nisi Imathia

Macedonian Struggle and tradition in a museum that presents the history of the region

Nisi Imathia is located 7 km from Alexandria and 55 km from Thessaloniki. It was a significant factor in the Macedonian Struggle at the beginning of the 20th century, being a base for the Greek forces and a place of hospitality for fighters. The contribution of the village and its inhabitants as aides to the Macedonian fighters is the main theme of the exhibition at the Historical Museum of the village, in the center of the settlement.

Through the exhibits, visitors get to know the historical development of the village, both in the Macedonian struggle and in the Second World War. At the same time, the rich collection also has a folklore theme, presenting the customs and traditions of the region, the daily life in domestic and agricultural work, as well as the contribution of Nisi to the culture of modern Greece.

The Museum was created by the president of the Nissi Community (1991-1994), Stefanos Karagiannis, and enriched with contributions from the residents of the village.
