Old School of Goumenissa

The old school in Goumenissa the majestic building was erected in the period 1882-1894, at the expense of the residents and donated by the local benefactor Thanos Zelegos, but also with the help of the Metropolitan of Edessa Timotheos.

It operated as a school after the liberation, until 1970 and then hosted citizen service centers and clubs. The historic school was the spiritual center of the region, especially during the Ottoman period. It is located in the center of the city and after its restoration adorns Goumenissa, both with the imposing construction and the memory it preserves from the 19th century.
