Villa Petridis

Villa Petridis is located at 5 Anagenniseos Street, near the center of Thessaloniki, in the Western Entrance area. It is one of the most impressive and well-preserved neoclassical buildings in Thessaloniki, representing a significant part of the city's architectural heritage.

Built around 1900, the villa originally belonged to a wealthy Jewish merchant, possibly Joseph Menachem. The building is a representative example of the urban architecture that developed in Thessaloniki during the late Ottoman period. The villa was named after its later owner, the Greek businessman Pavlos Petridis, who purchased it after the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922.

Villa Petridis follows the neoclassical style with eclectic elements, which were particularly popular in urban architecture of the time. The building features rich decorations, extensive use of marble, elaborate cornices, pediments, and Corinthian columns. The symmetry of the building's façade and the artistic details highlight its high aesthetic value.

After serving various purposes throughout the 20th century, the villa came into the possession of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. Today, it has been restored and is used as a cultural center, hosting events, exhibitions, and other activities that promote culture. The restoration was carried out with respect to the building's original architecture and aesthetic.
