The sculpture "Medallion" is located outside the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum. This work is one of the most characteristic sculptures of the city and is the creation of the famous sculptor George Zongolopoulos.
The "Medallion" was placed in this particular spot to honour the Olympic Idea and to connect the museum with art. The sculpture, with its abstract form, combines the sense of athletic distinction with artistic expression, making it a symbol of Olympic values in the urban landscape of Thessaloniki.
The Thessaloniki Olympic Museum is the only thematic museum in Greece dedicated exclusively to Olympism and the history of the Olympic Games, and the "Medallion" is an integral part of its identity.
