Skala Alykon

The beach of Kitros, in the western opening of Thermaikos, is part of a bay near the homonymous Alykes. Also known as Skala Alykon, it is located in the northern part of the Pieria coast and extends along 250 meters. It is wide, and comfortable for bathers, with an average width of 40 meters.

It is covered with sand, both on the beach and at the bottom, which is initially shallow and slowly becomes deep. Skala Alykon is quite organized, with beach bars, showers, sunbeds, and a lot of free space. Access is via a country road and a little further south is a very interesting visit to the salt pans, the salt-producing lagoon with its rich fauna. To the north, at a very short distance, is Ancient Pydna.
