The balcony of Thessaloniki

Upper Town: The balcony of Thessaloniki!

Going up from the city center, leave behind the dense construction and apartment buildings to discover a different Thessaloniki, nostalgic, taken from the past. On your walk, you will pass through picturesque neighborhoods with small houses but also beautiful mansions of Macedonian architecture, courtyards full of flowers, narrow cobbled streets, winding alleys, squares with traditional cafes, and taverns with delicious local delicacies, which will take you back in time, and at the end of the route, the view of the amazing sunset from above awaits you. Starting above Agiou Dimitriou Street, you will pass by monuments and churches, among them the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the church of Agia Aikaterini, the Monastery of Vlatadon, Agios Nikolaos Orphanos, Osios David, the Church of the temple Taxiarchs, the Alatza Imaret Mosque, the mausoleum of Musa Baba.

Along the way, the walls of Thessaloniki will be your companion, eternal defenders of its security, the Eptapyrgio or "Genti Koule", as its Ottoman name was, at the northeastern end of the Acropolis and the Triangle Tower, from which the amphitheatric image of the city embraces the sea, will be unforgettable.
