Polychrono

With one of the largest beaches in Halkidiki, with a total length of 7 km, Polychrono is a tourist resort with a large number of visitors per year. The middle of the east side of the first "leg" of the peninsula, built along the coast with crystal clear waters, hosts 1,000 residents and countless visitors who crowd the beach, beach cafes and beach bars, fish taverns, and restaurants with traditional Greek cuisine.

Polichrono was built on the site of ancient Naples, a city of the 7th century BC. In the 11th century, farmers settled in the area, creating the village, which was destroyed during the Revolution of 1821 and rebuilt by the remaining inhabitants. In recent decades it has experienced great prosperity in the tourism sector, as the natural beauty of the coast and its large area have been a place of attraction for holidaymakers. In Polychrono there is access to all kinds of water activities, from the simple daily dip in the waters that are honored every year with a Blue Flag to jet skiing, water sports, canoeing, and cycling.

3 km from the village is the small lake Mavrombara, with a beautiful wetland that hosts two rare species of turtles and is an ideal place for walks for families with children. The hill of the Acropolis of ancient Naples with its cemetery offers a taste of the ancient history of the village, while the folklore museum in Polychrono guides the visitor in the life of its inhabitants. Points of interest are the Church of Agios Athanasios, built-in 1912, the square with the church of 1863, but also the picturesque open-air olive mill.
