Ormos Panagias

The small fishing village with the huge beach

Ormos Panagias is a charming fishing village located in northeastern Sithonia, Halkidiki. It serves as the port of the village of Agios Nikolaos, with a large marina that accommodates boats and serves as the starting point for mini cruises to Ouranopolis, Ammouliani, and the circumnavigation of Mount Athos. Although it has no more than 100 permanent residents, it has evolved into a significant seaside resort mainly due to its enormous and "exotic" beach next to the settlement, called "Trani Ammouda," which is awarded the Blue Flag every year.

The village took its name from a Byzantine renovated church and is especially renowned for its fish taverns, offering fresh fish and seafood brought daily by the boats from the small port. There is a wide range of hotels and rental rooms available, making it an ideal destination for quiet vacations, while the lively nightlife can be found in Agios Nikolaos (about 2 kilometers from the bay) and Vourvourou (5 kilometers to the south). It is located 95 kilometers from the airport and 109 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki.
