British Military Cemetery of Kristoni

The last home of the British victims of World War I.

Northwest of Kristoni, a few kilometers from the city of Kilkis, is the homonymous British Military Cemetery, 703 victims of the battles in the area during the period 1917-1918 are buried in the area, coming from the two military hospitals set up by the British, where they treated the wounded of the military fronts.

The cemetery houses the graves of 682 soldiers and officers from Britain and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as 29 military graves of other nationalities. Its original name was "Sarigol Military Cemetery", from the old name of Christoni ("Sarigiol" or "Sari Gol") during the period of military conflicts. The Cemetery is always accessible to visitors.
