The Fort Istibey Military Museum, located near Sidirokastro, is a significant reference point for the history of World War II in Greece. Housed within the historic fort, the museum features an impressive collection of exhibits, including individual weapons from the era such as revolvers, pistols, rifles, and carbines, primarily of German origin.
One of the most striking exhibits is the engine of a German aircraft, accompanied by parts of its wing, machine gun barrel, and other components. Visitors also have the opportunity to view medals and decorations awarded to officers for their participation in the battle of the Fort.
The museum showcases a detailed diorama of the front and an advanced audiovisual system that presents the battle that took place in the area. Additionally, next to the museum are the Memorial to the Fallen of the battle and the Church of Saint George, built in 1996, providing a comprehensive experience of the region's history and heritage.
