The impressive monastery on the slopes of Paiko

On the eastern slopes of Mount Paikos, at an altitude of 700 meters, outside the settlement of Pentalofos, the monastery of Agios Nikodemos of Mount Athos is located. The monastery is only inhabited by man, it was founded in 1981 and is part of the Simonos Petra Monastery of Mount Athos.

Its central church is a double church with the upper level dedicated to Saint Nicodemus and the ground floor to Saints Raphael, Irene, and Nicholas. Although it has been operating for a few years, it has become one of the most impressive monasteries in Macedonia with rich spiritual work.

A special experience is the chanting of the all-night Vespers, which takes place on Good Friday at the wooden Cross, which is located on a hillside outside the Monastery, a ceremony that is attended by a large number of pilgrims each year. Famous is the hagiography of the Monastery, which is famous for its handmade icons. The monastery, which is open daily from sunrise to sunset, is being celebrated on July 14.
