A Spiritual Refuge in the North of Lake Kerkini
The Holy Monastery of Panagia Goumera is located in the village of Makrinitsa, north of Lake Kerkini, and was established in 1971. Since 2017, the monastery has undergone extensive renovations, which include the construction of the first cells for the monks, the erection of a church dedicated to Saint Paisios and Saint Porphyrios, as well as other facilities such as a synodikon, kitchens, and a refectory.
The monastery's courtyard has been landscaped, and extensive earthworks have been carried out in the surrounding area. The Monastery of Panagia Goumera continues to serve as a spiritual refuge for visitors and pilgrims, offering a place of tranquility and prayer, while also preserving and highlighting the tradition of Orthodoxy in the region.
