Zesta Nera Krousovitis Waterfall

The waterfalls in the fairytale landscape of "Zesta Nera"

In the beautiful valley where the river Krusovitis (or "Achladitis") flows, at the foot of Orvilos, the lush vegetation with the tall, century-old plane trees and the stone bridges characteristic of the area dominate. Near Sidirokastro, about 3 km from the town, is the "Zesta Nera"(translates to Warm Waters)site, which takes its name from the temperature of the water flowing underground for more than 100 metres, carving the relief of a rare cave of astonishing beauty.

One of the waterfalls created, with a water temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, is an unusual natural attraction.

The three waterfalls in total attract nature lovers who hike along the bed of the Krousovitis. Two of them are artificial, with icy waters, but the natural waterfall of hot water falls from a height of 15 metres, coming from hot springs a few hundred metres away. The waterfall also marks the entrance to the cave, while the landscape at this point is reminiscent of a fantasy world, as the surrounding forest is overgrown and the water element gives it an even more impressive character.
