We will tour in Vathi, a settlement linked to the oldest and most recent investigations of alluvial gold from the Gallic River. Today, on the heights around the settlement, there are several mining and other ore galleries, mainly copper, but also silver and gold, in fact some of them date back to ancient or even medieval times. The Professor of Geology and Sedimentation of AUTH, Mr. Vassilis Melfos, will talk about the mineralization of the area.
Then we will visit the Rayan estate, where we will learn about the traditional Pontic cuisine and its delicacies. Those who wish can purchase or even taste traditional products.
We will end up in the Roman city of Palatiano, where we will tour the site and get to know the Information Center that has been operating since January 2024 with rich audiovisual material about houses and sanctuaries, the hero of the Benefactors, the houses, the shops and the fast food of the city, a unique example for the northern Greek area of an ancient kitchen.
