Monument to the Fallen of Kalamaria

Dedicated to the Kalamaria Residents Who Gave Their Lives in World War II

The Monument to the Fallen of Kalamaria, created by sculptor Kyriakos Kampadakis, was completed in 1981 and is located in Skra Square in Kalamaria, overlooking the Aretsou beach.

The monument depicts a horizontally reclining human form, symbolizing a soldier who has fallen in battle. The figure is rendered as a single mass, mutilated but with a strong sense of spirit. The body is composed of large, sculptural volumes, offering a modern and abstract interpretation of sacrifice.

The sculpture is set on a high pedestal made of black marble, inscribed with the dedication: "To the Kalamaria residents who gave their lives in the Second World War." Below, the names of the fallen are recorded, honoring their memory.
