Monument to the Greek Fallen in Korea

The Monument to the Greek Fallen in Korea is located in Thessaloniki and is dedicated to the Greek soldiers who fell during the Korean War (1950-1953). The initiative for the construction of the monument was taken by the Association of Veteran Warriors of Korea, Macedonia and Thrace, in collaboration with the priest Konstantinos Halvatzakis, who had participated in the war.

The monument stands out for its Asian aesthetics, with a central element a pagoda, which is a typical religious structure in Asia. Pagodas symbolize peace and prosperity, and in this monument they express hope for a world without war. The pagoda is decorated with carved symbols, such as dragons and the sixteen-pointed star, and is surrounded by four columns bearing the names of the fallen.

The monument is located on the beach of Thessaloniki, near Botsari Street, and overlooks the sea, creating a calm atmosphere that invites visitors to reflect on the history and contribution of the Greek soldiers.
