Monument to the Executed Members of the Gendarmerie and Police by the Occupation Authorities

Dedicated to those executed for their resistance activities during the period 1941-1944

The Monument to the Executed Members of the Gendarmerie and Police is dedicated to the men who were executed for their resistance activities during the years 1941-1944, as well as to all those who fell in the line of duty.

Located in Thessaloniki since 1990, the monument is the work of sculptor Efthymios Kalavrezos, known for other significant monuments such as the Pontic Hellenism monument at Hagia Sophia and the National Resistance monument in Stavroupoli.

The sculpture features a large-sized bronze female figure taking a step forward with open arms, symbolizing freedom and victory. The base of the monument bears the inscription: "Monument to the Executed Members of the Gendarmerie and Police by the Occupation Authorities for their resistance activities during the period 1941-1944 and to all who fell in the line of duty."

The monument is located near the Byzantine Museum, across from the 3rd Army Corps in Thessaloniki.
