Bust of Christodoulos Sozos
Dedicated to the fighter of the Balkan Wars
The bust of Christodoulos Sozos, a fighter of the Balkan Wars and former mayor of Limassol, is located in front of the Municipal Stadium of Ampelokipoi. The work was unveiled in March 2018, making the Municipality of Ampelokipoi-Menemeni the second municipality in Greece to honor Sozos' memory, after the Municipality of Ioannina.
The bust, made of marble, is a tribute to Christodoulos Sozos, who made significant contributions during the Balkan Wars. Next to the bust stands a flat marble pillar, depicting two young runners, which was installed in 2006 as a donation from Dimitris Diazas in memory of his grandson Stavros.
The bust and the pillar combine historical remembrance with the promotion of athletic values, making this monument an important symbol for the local community.
