Bust of Gonos Giotas

Dedicated to the prominent Macedonian fighter

The bust of Gonos Giotas is located in Romfei Square at the end of Agia Sofia Street in the Upper Town of Thessaloniki. The square is named after Captain Romfeis, a Macedonian fighter who was appointed by the Sultan as an inspector of Rumelia to combat Ali Pasha.

The bust, created by sculptor Dimitris Kalamara in 1954, is made of white marble and stands on a marble pedestal. It depicts Gonos Giotas in his uniform, holding a cross around his neck.

A replica of the bust is located in Gonos Giotas Square in the city of Giannitsa, placed in the same year. This monument honors the history and struggle of the Macedonian fighters, preserving their memory and legacy in the region.
