Sculpture “Meteoron”
The sculpture "Meteoron" by Kostis Georgiou was installed in a specially designed green space, opposite the Thessaloniki City Hall, in the Park of France.
The composition consists of twelve figures, cast in aluminum and painted in a high-durability red coating. The figures intertwine around a vertical axis, interrupted by metallic tubes, and extend upward to form a unified structure. The work is supported by a marble base measuring 2.00 x 1.40 x 1.40 meters, designed by the artist himself. The total height of the sculpture, including the base, reaches 11 meters, and its weight is estimated at approximately 400 kilograms.
Meteoron is characterized by formal dynamism and chromatic intensity, creating an abstract, almost introspective narrative. Its placement in public space invites artistic dialogue and highlights the role of contemporary sculpture in the everyday experience of the urban landscape.
