Sculpture "The World of Innovation"
A stunning work of art at the southern entrance of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF)
The sculpture "The World of Innovation" by Pavlos Kougioumtzis is one of the modern artistic landmarks of Thessaloniki, specifically located at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). Positioned at the southern entrance of the TIF, across from the YMCA, this impressive ten-meter-high work was created and first presented during the 71st TIF in 2006, a year dedicated to "Innovation."
The sculpture depicts a metallic cube with a relief of the world map on its surface. A diagonal metal rod pierces through the cube, defining its center and providing balance. The cube is mounted atop a pyramid, creating an impressive composition that highlights the international character of TIF and the importance of innovation as a foundation for global development.
The placement of the sculpture in this part of the city is intentional, as it emphasizes the significance of TIF as an international hub for meeting and exchanging ideas, where innovation plays a key role. "The World of Innovation" reflects the global dimension and progress of humanity, while also showcasing Greece's contribution to modern technological and scientific advancements.
