Nea Potidea Beach (Eastern)

Distinctive and popular, on the eastern side of the Potidea canal

The eastern beach of Nea Potidea, which extends as a continuation of the coastline starting high at the open gulf where Kalyves and Agios Mamas are located, is one of the most unique beaches in Halkidiki. The landmark of the canal, which connects the Thermaic Gulf with the Toroneos Gulf, as well as the semi-submerged archaeological site at its height, give special characteristics to the already beautiful beach with its crystal clear waters, awarded with the Blue Flag.

Its main section, from the canal and southward, is highly organized. Beach bars, water sports facilities, a water park, umbrellas, sunbeds, and everything one needs for a comfortable swim. There is ample space for those who wish to bring their own equipment, and the beach has a large width to avoid overcrowding despite its increasing popularity. It is covered with coarse sand along its entire length, both on the beach and underwater, which is shallow in the first meters.

Access is easy via the highway, 56 kilometers from Thessaloniki Airport and 7 kilometers from Nea Moudania. At the height of the canal, the highway also offers a rare visual with a view from above towards the canal and both sides, where the Aegean Sea separates, east and west from the first leg of the peninsula.
