Agathoupolis Wetland

The observatory of the magical world of birds

The wetland in the Aliakmonas delta extends to 40,000 acres and is one of the most important areas for the nesting and life of birds. Along with the rich flora and fauna of the wetland, the variety of the bird populations make bird watching extremely interesting and the whole National Park Delta Axiou - Loudia - Aliakmonas especially attracts bird lovers.

In Nea Agathoupoli, in the homonymous Elos, is the bird observatory, overlooking the delta of Aliakmonas, which hosts exhibitions, activities, and events on the life of birds. Binoculars and telescopes are provided, there is a guide to the bird species, their habits, and way of life, as well as a short thematic exhibition. The observatory is also the starting point for the route that reaches the wetland of Nea Agathoupolis, while visitors can continue wandering in the enchanting world of the National Park and the other observation points.
