Posidi
Posidi
A unique destination - a natural phenomenon
Although small in size, the fishing village of Poseidi and its surrounding area are one of the most interesting places to visit and spend your holidays on the first leg of Halkidiki. Built on the site where the ancient settlement of Mende once stood, it took its name from the god Poseidon, whose sanctuary exists next to the beach, near the village. It is located approximately 105 kilometers from Thessaloniki and is situated on the western shores of Kassandra, on the cape that is also called "Miti," due to its unique shape.
Posidi and the nearby Aegeopelagitika settlement experience significant tourist development and host many visitors every summer, including tourists in their hotel units as well as owners of vacation homes. The sandy "tongue" at the cape, which changes its shape depending on the season or from night to day according to the wind and the waters, can have waves on one side and calmness just a few meters away. It is a true natural phenomenon, beyond its rare beauty and the beach it creates for bathers. Near, you can find the Posidi Lighthouse, built in the 19th century to oversee the ever-changing cape and assist boats in the area.
Posidi is known for its nightlife, camping facilities that attract young people and students, and fish taverns offering delicacies from the waters of the cape. Above all, it is known for the unique combination of a well-organized tourist area with its natural beauty, which is illuminated by the sunset over Mount Olympus in the evenings.
