Mill of Water & Five Senses
Water as a crucial element of life in a carefully maintained exhibition
In the old industrial area near the waterfalls of Edessa, where in the early 20th century the watermills, benefiting from the abundant waters of the region, operated as workshops with high production, the restored buildings host interesting thematic exhibitions. The Water Mill, in the old "Arditsoglou" sesame mill, focuses on the most crucial element of Edessa, the "city of waters". It presents it as a natural resource, as the source of life, and as the most important asset of the present and the future, through its lasting exhibition.
The "Mill of Water and the Five Senses", the full name of the exhibition, welcomes and guides visitors on a journey through sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste in the world of the water element that characterizes Edessa. The Edessa River that reaches the city creates its twelve famous waterfalls, the cycle of water from the mountains to the lakes, the rivers and the sea, the environment, and the human culture around the city with their particularities thanks to the miraculous contribution of the waters that flow through the city and make its plain fertile.
The program "The Water Cycle in the Edessa area, an experiential tourism program guided by the five human senses" is a walk that visitors to Edessa city should not miss. After all, the Water Mill is only a few minutes away from Karano, the waterfall - the main attraction for any excursion to the Macedonian city.
