Serres Ecclesiastical Museum
The Ecclesiastical Museum of the Holy Metropolis of Serres and Nigrita
The collection of the Ecclesiastical Museum of Serres began to be collected in 1988 and was initially housed in the Metropolitan Palace of the Holy Metropolis of Serres and Nigrita.
Since 2008, the Ecclesiastical Museum "Psyxis Akos" has been operating in a building constructed in the city center for this purpose, specifically for the preservation and exhibition of images and ecclesiastical treasures from churches and monasteries in the Nigrita and Serres region.
The artifacts in the collection date from the 14th to the 20th century. They are categorized into four thematic sections (Byzantine icons, wood carvings, liturgical vestments, sacred vessels), each displayed in corresponding halls, with a significant number of exhibits in each section.
