Scout Memorial Stele

Dedicated to the sacrifice of the Scouts of Aydin in June 1919

The Scout Memorial Stele in Thessaloniki is a monument honoring the sacrifice of the Scouts of Aydin in June 1919. This modest yet significant stele stands on a small marble base, located across from the City Hall and the Scout building.

The stele is made of stone and bears the Scout Promise emblem, a symbol representing the principles and values of Scouting. This emblem is linked to the founding philosophy of Scouting, which began in 1908 by Lord Baden-Powell and continues today with over 50 million members in more than 160 countries.

The location of the stele makes it easily accessible and recognizable. It serves as a place of reflection and honor for the Scouting community and its history in Greece, while also acting as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, service, and dedication.
