Bust of Demetrios Ypsilantis

Dedicated to the Hero of the Greek Revolution

The marble bust of the military leader Demetrios Ypsilantis is a striking work of art that highlights the hero's contributions to the Greek War of Independence. Placed on a marble pedestal, the bust exudes the grandeur and significance of Ypsilantis's figure. Created in 1979 and gifted by M. Kyparissidou, it stands as a testament to the ongoing recognition of national heroes.

The depiction of Demetrios Ypsilantis's face is marked by great plasticity and detail, making the bust particularly expressive and lifelike. Crafted by sculptor Efthymios Kalevras, this work is part of a series of busts and statues of heroes from 1821 that adorn the area.

The bust is strategically located in the park opposite the Charitable Association of Northern Greece (ΧΑΝΘ), at the corner of Tsimiski and Angelaki Streets. This location has become a monumental space where visitors can appreciate the art and remember the history of the heroes of the Greek Revolution.
