Gorge of Krasta

A heavenly destination for climbing and hiking in nature

The Krastas Gorge, an impressive natural creation, is located in the prefecture of Imathia, on the northern foothills of Vermio. It owes its existence to the flow of the Mega Rema stream, which has formed a natural line that connects the lowlands of the villages of Rodochori and Giannakochori.

The narrow opening of the gorge reaches a height of up to 200 metres, creating impressive crags that attract the interest of climbers. The vertical rocks, with their many climbing routes, are an ideal destination for climbing enthusiasts. In 1985, Dimitris Boudolas and Loukas Giannakoulis opened the first known route, which paved the way for many others.

Access to the gorge is easy via Giannakochori. Following special signs, visitors reach a plateau that has been set up for parking vehicles. Just a few minutes from the parking area, there is a site suitable for camping, ideal for nature lovers and outdoor activities. Climbing routes are just a 15-minute walk via a marked trail, making the canyon accessible and visitor-friendly.

Krasta Gorge is the ideal destination for those seeking adventure and natural beauty. Whether you are an experienced climber or just want to enjoy a beautiful nature hike, this majestic gorge offers countless opportunities for exploration and relaxation. With its stunning views and easy access, the Krasta Gorge is waiting for you to discover its beauty!
