Diaporos

The "exotic" islet across from Vourvourou

One of the most enchanting places you will encounter in Halkidiki is Diaporos, the largest of the nine islets across from Vourvourou. It offers a unique landscape of rare beauty, combining beaches and seas of exotic destinations with a dense Mediterranean pine forest that reaches the coastline. In its mere 3.2 square kilometers of land, Diaporos hides so many secrets that one day is clearly not enough to discover them all.

In its largest bay, Kryfto, stretching for 700 meters, the waters are calm, shallow, and warm even in winter. The rugged terrain surrounding the island creates dozens of small beaches with transparent, turquoise waters and dazzling white sand, offering ever-changing views every few meters. The shallow underwater areas are an exciting challenge for diving and snorkeling, hosting a whole world of their own. Wherever you look, you see the Caribbean in the waters, surrounded by the Mediterranean.

Diaporos is accessible only by sea, and visitors can reach it from Vourvourou by renting a boat or kayak for a short journey of a few minutes. It has no roads or permanent residents, except for a few vacation houses in some areas. It is a true paradise, without organized beaches or shops, so you will need to bring along any supplies you might need. In any case, it will reward you with an experience you will carry with you for a lifetime.
