Commemorative Stele "Triandria"

A marble tribute to three key figures in Greek history.

The "Triandria" Commemorative Stele is located at the entrance of the Kapantzi Villa in Thessaloniki, made of marble. To the left of the building’s entrance, the stele displays a photograph taken in October 1916, depicting the "Triandria" (Eleftherios Venizelos, Admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis, and General Panagiotis Danglis) along with members of the Provisional Government of Thessaloniki.

The stele commemorates the period of the National Schism, when Venizelos, adopting the National Defense movement, arrived in Thessaloniki on September 26, 1916, from Crete, to lead the Provisional Government of Thessaloniki. For about nine months, Venizelos resided at Kapantzi Villa, along with Kountouriotis and Danglis, making this building one of the most significant historical landmarks of the city during this critical period.

The inscription at the base of the stele, in both Greek and English, recounts the events of that time, emphasizing the importance of the photograph, which captures a pivotal political move that influenced Greece's trajectory during World War I.
