Stratoni
The historical settlement with the magnificent beach in the Gulf of Ierissos
Located at the northern edge of the Gulf of Ierissos, facing a beautiful beach, Stratoni is a settlement with a history of thousands of years, which today serves as an attractive destination for tranquil vacations. The rich soil of the area has been exploited throughout the ages, as evidenced by the archaeological findings that have come to light, proof of inhabitation since ancient times. The village was founded in the 19th century, destroyed in 1932, and rebuilt almost entirely. It is located 100 kilometers from Thessaloniki.
The approximately 1,100 permanent residents are engaged in fishing, agriculture, and mining in the region, as well as tourism. The coastline and the natural beauty of the area attract many visitors who seek relaxation away from the bustling tourist resorts of Halkidiki. The beach is fully organized and has been awarded the Blue Flag.
Near the village, there is the wonderful Aristotle Park, dedicated to the ancient philosopher, as well as Stagira and Sidirokausia. Apart from the historical significance of these sites, the views are breathtaking. For hiking enthusiasts, there are several trails amidst the dense vegetation that houses two wildlife refuges, stretching between Stratoni and Olympiada.
