Pyrgadikia

The beautiful fishing village resembles an island settlement

Pyrgadikia is in the center of the Singitic Gulf, facing Mount Athos to the east and Sithonia to the west. It is a seaside village that strongly resembles an island settlement, built in an amphitheater style on a small hill just above the sea. It was founded by refugees from the Asia Minor Catastrophe from Marmara and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Halkidiki. It is inhabited by approximately 320 people, but during the summer months, the population multiplies due to tourism.

In the bay of the settlement, there is a small harbor, and the place is renowned for its fresh fish caught by local fishermen. The small beach is beautiful and crystal clear, but the more popular ones are the nearby coasts, such as Akti Salonikiou, Kambos, and the three Gyalakia beaches. As a tourist destination, it has a small number of hotel accommodations, attracting visitors who choose Pyrgadikia for a peaceful vacation. It is a fairy-tale, picturesque little village that you wouldn't believe is not located on an island if you suddenly came across it.

Pyrgadikia is located 35 kilometers by road from Polygyros and 100 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki.
